Artist's Statement
In the mixed media work, ephemeral elements represent graphic design such as ink, color swatches, grid paper, maps, photos, and transparency paper creating layers hiding and revealing the past and present. Annotations with cyan blue ink denote the journey. This ink was chosen because of its place in graphic design history. Cyan ink was used to create printer notes on early advertising artboards because it was not seen by a photostat machine. Cyan ink subtly questions if we see the work of women graphic designers in Wisconsin.
