During my first semester in the MFA program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, this collection was created while enrolled in an independent study with artist and Assistant Professor Michael Velliquette.
Artist's Statement
Experimentation with form and light, one piece of 8-1/2" x 11" white cardstock was cut and assembled into various ephemeral paper sculptures using only gravity. Two rules use the entire sheet of paper and no fasteners or adhesives. Three-dimensional sculptures meant to be temporary and intuitive works were the result. Capturing the 3d pieces with photography was necessary, resulting in a fourth element, light.
