The Challenge

KI needed to make a monumental impact at NeoCon 2011, the largest and most important contract furnishing trade show in North America, held at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. In an incredibly competitive environment where hundreds of top-tier brands vie for the attention of architects and interior designers, the challenge was to conceptualize a showroom experience that did more than simply display furniture. The space needed to actively engage attendees, disrupt the visual noise of the trade show, and compellingly tell the overarching KI brand story.

The Strategic Approach
To stand out among traditional, static furniture displays, the creative direction pivoted toward an immersive, technology-driven experiential design. The strategy transformed the showroom's storefront into a dynamic, moving canvas. By fusing physical architectural elements with cutting-edge digital technology, the approach aimed to create a captivating, theatrical experience that would draw attendees in and guide them through a curated narrative of the brand.

Key Design Features
Dynamic 3D Projection Mapping: The cornerstone of the experiential redesign was the integration of advanced 3D projection mapping. This technology was precisely mapped onto the showroom's storefront displays, creating breathtaking illusions of movement, depth, and transformation that brought physical surfaces and product stories to life.
Large-Scale Environmental Graphics: To ground the digital projections and maintain a cohesive visual journey within the interior, massive, high-impact environmental graphics were deployed throughout the space. These graphics anchored the brand identity and helped define distinct zones within the showroom.
Immersive Brand Storytelling: The physical graphics and digital projections were not just decorative; they were intricately choreographed to function as a unified storytelling mechanism. As attendees moved through the space, the combined mediums communicated the KI story, highlighting the company's smart solutions and commitment to the contract furniture industry.
Holistic Creative Execution: Achieving this level of seamless integration required comprehensive creative direction from concept through execution. This ensured that the interior design, physical build, and complex digital mapping content were perfectly synchronized for a flawless, high-end visitor experience.

The Result
The ambitious, technology-forward redesign was a massive success, significantly elevating KI's presence at the industry's most critical event. The innovative fusion of large-scale graphics and dynamic digital storytelling captivated attendees and earned industry-wide recognition, culminating in the showroom winning a prestigious 2011 IIDA (International Interior Design Association) award.
